The Reading Room aims to create dialogue both within the art community and between diverse fields of knowledge by engaging members of the creative community in Thailand through educational and public programs including research, seminars, lectures, screenings, and workshops in various fields from art, literature and film to sociopolitical issues that are relevant to contemporary culture.
ห้องสมุด Reading Room ต้องการสร้างบทสนทนาทั้งในแวดวงศิลปะ และบทสนทนาระหว่างความรู้ด้านศิลปะกับความรู้สาขาอื่นๆ โดยการจัดกิจกรรมส่งเสริมความรู้และการศึกษาเพื่อบุคคลในสาขาศิลป-วัฒนธรรมและบุคคลทั่วไป ทั้งกิจกรรมเกี่ยวกับการวิจัย, การจัดเก็บข้อมูล, กิจกรรมเสวนา, จัดฉายภาพยนตร์และเวิร์คช็อปในด้านศิลปะ, วรรณกรรม, ภาพยนตร์ รวมไปถึง ประวัติศาสตร์,ปรัชญา,สังคม และการเมืองที่มีความเกี่ยวข้องและส่งอิทธิพลต่อวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัยไทย
Talk Series
The Reading Room Talk Series is a year-long program based on the interpretation of the idea of archive and library from diverse perspective of scholars and distinguished guests. The event takes place every other month starting from February to December. The six-part talk series covers the fields of art, social sciences, architecture, literature, music, film, history and philosophy. เสวนา
ห้องสมุด Reading Room มีการจัดเสวนาในประเด็นต่างๆอย่างสม่ำเสมอโดยในแต่ละครั้ง เราได้เชิญวิทยากรในแต่ละสาขามาแสดงความคิดเห็นในแง่มุมที่แตกต่างกันออกไป ทั้งในด้านสังคมศาสตร์, ศิลปะ, สถาปัตยกรรม, วรรณกรรม, ดนตรี, ภาพยนตร์, ประวัติศาสตร์และปรัชญา เพื่อเป็นการสร้างบทสนทนาและแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้ระหว่างสาขาต่างๆ รวมถึงเป็นการต่อยอดความคิดและสร้างเครือข่ายของแต่ละกลุ่มความรู้ให้มีความแข็งแรงยิ่งขึ้นอีกด้วย
Screening Series: Films on Contemporary Art and Artists
The Reading Room organizes a quarterly screening series focusing on films on and about contemporary art and artists, both documentaries and films inspired by artists and their works, including modern interpretation of art historical events and works.
Night School
The Reading Room and Thai Netizen Network presents “Night School,” an informal classroom for the exchange of ideas and perspectives on contemporary sociocultural issues, in order to better comprehend the constant change in contemporary society, both locally and globally. This year the overall program will evolve around the theme of “Moving Culture,” especially issues of freedom of expression, social movement, creative capital, and the role of new media in the arts and culture.
About “Night School”
- A collaborative project between The Reading Room and Thai Netizen Network.
- Classroom organized monthly, on every 3rd Friday from 7:30pm onward.
- Classroom format focusing on exchange of ideas, opinions, and information between speakers and participators in an informal environment.
- Most classes include some recommended materials to read or view before class.
- All classes will be videorecorded and will be available online and as a publication.
- Free internet. Food and drinks allowed in class

The Reading Room และ เครือข่ายพลเมืองเน็ต เสนอโครงการ “โรงเรียนพ(ล)บค่ำ” แลกเปลี่ยนมุมมองวัฒนธรรมใหม่ โดยเฉพาะประเด็นเสรีภาพในการแสดงออก ทรัพย์สินทางปัญญา สื่อใหม่ ขบวนการทางสังคม และมีเดียอาร์ต เพื่อร่วมทำความเข้าใจกับความเปลี่ยนแปลงทางสังคมและวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัย
เกี่ยวกับ “โรงเรียนพ(ล)บค่ำ”
- เป็นโครงการร่วมระหว่าง The Reading Room และ เครือข่ายพลเมืองเน็ต
- กิจกรรมนี้จะจัดเป็นประจำ ทุกวันศุกร์ที่ 3 ของเดือน เวลาหนึ่งทุ่มครึ่งเป็นต้นไป
- รูปแบบเน้นการพูดคุยแลกเปลี่ยนระหว่างผู้บรรยายและผู้เข้าร่วม ในแบบสบาย ๆ กินไปคุยไป
- ก่อนมาพบกัน เราจะมีเอกสารแนะนำ ถ้าใครว่างก็อ่านมาก่อนได้
- การบรรยายและการพูดคุยแลกเปลี่ยนจะถูกบันทึกเพื่อเผยแพร่ออนไลน์และจัดพิมพ์เป็นหนังสือ

The Reader
The Reading Room calls for readers who will take on a chance to select and read one book from our collection and share your experience on our Facebook page and website. August slot has filled up; the four reviews will be up soon. We are now calling out for September readers. If you’re interested, please contact 02-635-3674; or info@readingroombkk.org.
A few agreements:
- We welcome 4 readers/month.
- Each reader has 1 month to finish his/her selected book.
- Every Friday, we will put “Reader’s Pick” on The Reading Room Facebook page and website.

The Reading Room ประกาศรับสมัครนักอ่าน มาเลือกหนังสือที่ห้องสมุดไปอ่านกันคนละเล่ม แล้วแชร์ประสบการณ์ผ่านเฟสบุ๊คและเว็บไซต์ของ The Reading Room เพื่อแนะนำและแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นกันค่ะ โดยเราได้เริ่มโครงการในเดือนสิงหาคม และจะเริ่มแชร์ข้อเขียนของนักอ่านในเดือนกันยายนนี้ค่ะ
ข้อตกลงเล็กๆน้อยๆ
- ในแต่ละเดือนเราขอรับสมัครนักอ่านสี่ท่าน
- นักอ่านแต่ละท่านเลือกหนังสือหนึ่งเล่มไปอ่านเป็นเวลาหนึ่งเดือน
- ทุกวันศุกร์เราจะลง Reader’s Pick ในเฟสบุ๊คเพจและเว็บไซต์ของ The Reading Room
Bangkok Book Map | แผนที่ห้องสมุดและร้านหนังสือในกรุงเทพมหานคร
The Reading Room compiled information on libraries and bookstores in Bangkok and will distribute “Bangkok Book Map” for free at the Bangkok Art and Culture Center (5th floor) as part of an art exhibition, Temporary Storage #1, which opens on Nov. 10th and will run through Dec. 9th.
ห้องสมุด The Reading Room ได้จัดทำโครงการแผนที่ห้องสมุดและร้านหนังสือในกรุงเทพมหานคร โดยทำการรวบรวมข้อมูลพื้นฐานเกี่ยวกับ ห้องสมุดประชาชน ห้องสมุดเอกชน และร้านหนังสืออิสระ เพื่อเป็นการสร้างโครงข่ายทางการอ่านของกรุงเทพฯ และเป็นข้อมูลให้กับประชาชนและผู้สนใจทั่วไป รวมถึงผู้ประกอบการห้องสมุดและร้านหนังสือ สามารถมีแหล่งข้อมูลที่เข้าถึงได้โดยง่ายรวมไว้ในที่เดียวกัน ทั้งนี้ยังเป็นการตอบรับกับโอกาสที่กรุงเทพมหานครได้รับเลือกจากองค์กรยูเนสโกให้เป็น “เมืองหนังสือโลก” (World Book Capital) ในปี 2556 อีกด้วย โดยแผนที่การอ่านนี้จะมีทั้งเป็นแผนที่สิ่งพิมพ์ที่จะจัดพิมพ์เพื่อเผยแพร่ครั้งแรกในนิทรรศการ “Temporary Storage #1” ที่หอศิลปวัฒนธรรมแห่งกรุงเทพมหานคร (10 พฤศจิกายน – 9 ธันวาคม 2555) และขั้นตอนต่อไปที่จะเริ่มต้นในปี 2556 คือการจัดทำแผนที่ออนไลน์ที่จะจัดทำขึ้น โดยจะเน้นให้ประชาชนทั่วไปได้เข้ามามีส่วนร่วมให้ข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมเกี่ยวกับพื้นที่ทางการอ่านในชุมชนของตนเอง เพื่อให้ได้แผนที่การอ่านของกรุงเทพฯ ที่ครบถ้วนสมบูรณ์ที่สุด

Re:Reading Group
The Reading Room calls for reader to take part in ‘Re:Reading Group’. Join us in rereading and reinterpreting classic sociocultural texts. Discussion first starts online via our Facebook page throughout the month then, a meeting is set for discussion at The Reading Room with lead speakers at the end of each month (from June to November).
Some texts are available in English and online discussion as well as further links and information may be provided in English; however, monthly meetings at The Reading Room will be in Thai. Please contact this email for more information: info@readingroombkk.org.
The Reading Room ชวนอ่านหนังสือสายสังคมวัฒนธรรม ใน “Re:Reading Group” มาร่วมกัน “อ่านใหม่” และ “ตีความใหม่” เดือนละครั้งตั้งแต่มิถุนายนนี้เป็นต้นไป โดย Re:Reading Group เป็น reading group ที่มี twist คือ เป็นการนำตัวบทสายสังคมวัฒนธรรม ที่เป็นที่รู้จักกันอย่างดี ถูกอ้างอิงถึงทั้งในสาขาและข้ามสาขา มา “อ่านใหม่” เพื่อทบทวนและทำความเข้าใจใหม่ให้รอบด้าน และให้เข้ากับบริบทร่วมสมัย โดยจะมีวิทยากรที่จะนำการแลกเปลี่ยนสนทนา 1-2 ท่าน ในแต่ละครั้ง
ทั้งนี้ลักษณะกิจกรรมจะคล้ายกับ reading group แต่จะเน้นการมีส่วนร่วมออนไลน์ โดยจะมีการแนะนำตัวบท ข้อมูลบทความเพิ่มเติม และประเด็นสำคัญต่างๆ รวมทั้งเริ่มแลกเปลี่ยนกับวิทยากรผ่าน Facebook page ของ The Reading Room ตลอดระยะเวลา 1 เดือน ก่อนที่จะมาพบกันจริงหนึ่งครั้งในช่วงปลายเดือน โดยวิทยากรจะนำเสนอประเด็นต่างๆและนำบทสนทนา ตามด้วยการแลกเปลี่ยนและ Q&A
